The fact that I sit here on this day with my recently aquired custom dan le sac vs scroobius pip redshift rebel cap, green tea, the silent aftermath of 3 days worth of mugs, stained by coffee & the sweet smell of freedom while getting my kicks, which can only to be parallelled by a good book, or perhaps watching gideon conn perform.
I have this referencing excercise for uni to do, some 500 words or so of some hellish form of art speak that does interest you unless you had no other newspaper or article to read, on a 10 hour flight for example. I figure because its what I do for a living I should be more attached to my goals and get it done, but my current state of motivation aligns with inertia. However I do hope to acheive this task before the end of the day, possibly with the use of force and pure pain.
Some of the latest fads musically seem to come an go, while one hit wonders, are.. wonderful.. not much these days gets by a few years.. even mainstream music. However there comes a time when you see great bands & acts are lyrically engaging with the politics & culture of our times. Understandably I believe every generation and musician has done this in the past, and in turn thats what we live our lives for, to join in, to be a part of ‘now’. It is not only music, but profession, a love for life that’d drive someones ambition to become known in the world, to leave a mark. Society has made everyone seem so important, as if we are all special. Well hear me now… all that s**t about becoming famous (x factor, pop idol, tabloids, paps etc) its so very pointless.. everyone is being told to strive for something bigger by being given magic beans without the soil & water. Strange analogy, might not even work for you.. but it makes sense to me. Basically.. lifes what you make it, but you have to ‘make’ it. there is a god, and its you, yourself, me, myself.. everyone… religion is fake arse.
Relationships, now.. its a really strange game. There is this person right, who is always moaning about feeling lonely and wants somebody and every few months falls in love with some guy called dave, jim, terry.. every name in the book. I see these guys fly by. how can this person ever be happy? cheap thrills, or are they not so cheap? they are certainly quick thrills if anything. I discuss this because I believe people that aren’t always in relationships while being lonely, are often the happiest. Maybe because I’m single I say this in that way. I am perfectly happy and love my own company, perhaps a little too comfortable. just some thoughts…
Soon I am to have my own website, known as www.benpetercatchpole.com, my site that’ll touch base and provide a home for commissions, galleries, contact details etc. Getting business all the time will be a great thing, along with my soon to come driving lessons. anywho.. over and out for april the 8th. 2008. x
